Artist Name: Greg Pace, Master Potter
Medium/Technique: Functional Pottery
Greg Pace began doing pottery at the age of 10 when he took a throwing course at the activities center in Fort Hollabird Army Base in Baltimore, Maryland. Pace graduated from the University of Florida in 1977 with a fine arts degree with emphasis in sculpture and pottery. He did graduate work at East Tennessee State University, and taught hand throwing and altering techniques at community colleges. During this time, Pace maintained a studio and traveled the art show circuit from Florida to California.
Pace split his time as a plastics engineer and potter for 17 years, and in 2007, he left engineering and went full time as Greg Pace Pottery. He produces beautiful functional items, such as mugs, bowls, teapots, and urns, as well as more imaginative pieces.
Greg has continued his education at East Tennessee State University, working on his Masters in Fine Arts, and still has managed to continue creating beautiful and very functional works of art at his pottery studio, Pisgah Hwy Pottery, near Asheville, North Carolina.
